Avenida Cabo Branco closes to cars every day, from 5am to 8am, for walking, running and cycling.
Cabo Branco was only the name of the cliff. The rest was all Tambaú. The formation was once held to be the easternmost point of the Americas and lost the title to Ponta do Seixas, less than a thousand metres south, because of coastal erosion.
Avenida Cabo Branco runs parallel to the beach and holds most of the neighbourhood's shops. Every day, from five to eight in the morning, it closes to cars and becomes a track for walking, running and cycling. It is the quietest seafront in the city.
