This is a beach for locals, not for tourists: a wide strip of sand, few people, and reefs that open natural pools at low tide. The restaurants of Manaíra are ten minutes away by car. Our studio at Santorini Flat faces the sea, with a rooftop pool.

Bessa was a fishing village until 1949, and the name comes from Antônio Bessa, a Portuguese captain who lived here first. The 1998 Neighbourhood Act split the old area into three: Bessa, Jardim Oceania and Aeroclube. Today it has 16,414 residents in a little over two square kilometres.
In practice: kiosks well spaced out, few people on the sand even in high season, and a sea that turns shallow as the tide drops. For dinner out, almost everyone takes the car and is in Manaíra within ten minutes.
