Manaíra is the most built-up neighbourhood in João Pessoa. That skyline you see in photos of the seafront is almost all from here. It has 26,369 residents. The neighbourhood runs from Avenida Governador Flávio Ribeiro Coutinho, to the north, down to Senador Rui Carneiro, which divides it from Tambaú.
This is where the city goes for dinner. There are more restaurants, bars and bakeries per block than anywhere else on the seafront, and Manaíra Shopping sits inside the neighbourhood. Stay here and you barely need a car.
