What the weather is like in August
According to INMET's climate normals (1991–2020), August in João Pessoa has an average high of 28.9 °C and low of 21.9 °C, around 134 mm of rain over 16 days and 224 hours of sunshine.
The month the good weather returns: rain drops to less than half of July's and sunshine passes 220 hours again. It is still cool by local standards, with lows near 22 °C.
What to do in August
- The Festa das Neves in the historic centre, with a procession, food stalls and concerts.
- Beach and natural pools on settled days, which become more common.
- Kitesurfing on the north coast and at Barra do Cunhaú: it is windy season.

Events and crowds
On 5 August, João Pessoa celebrates its birthday and its patron saint, Our Lady of the Snows. The festival takes over the area around the Basilica for several days, with a mostly local crowd. It is the city looking at itself, outside the high season.
Is August a good time to go?
