What the weather is like in March
According to INMET's climate normals (1991–2020), March in João Pessoa has an average high of 31.2 °C and low of 24.8 °C, around 172 mm of rain over 12 days and 227 hours of sunshine.
It is the turning month. The heat is the same as February, but rainfall almost doubles and shows up on more days, especially in the second half of the month.
What to do in March
- Beach in the first half of the month, with the sea still in summer mode.
- The historic centre and Parque Solon de Lucena, which work with or without sun.
- Estação Cabo Branco and the lighthouse, in the late afternoon.
- A day trip to Pernambuco or the south coast on a settled day.

Events and crowds
After Carnival things quieten down, families head home and nightly rates fall. In some years Holy Week falls in March, with services and processions in the historic centre's churches.
Is March a good time to go?
Worth it, especially in the first fortnight: near-summer weather at low-season prices. Pack a small umbrella and save the boat trips for settled days.
