What the weather is like in February
According to INMET's climate normals (1991–2020), February in João Pessoa has an average high of 31.1 °C and low of 25.0 °C, around 106 mm of rain over 9 days and 216 hours of sunshine.
Summer carries on: heat, calm sea and sun on most days. Along with March, it has the highest average maximum of the year.
What to do in February
- Folia de Rua: street blocos around the neighbourhoods in the weeks before Carnival. Muriçocas do Miramar is the most traditional and draws huge crowds.
- Carnival in Olinda or Recife, under two hours away, sleeping by João Pessoa's calm beach.
- Natural pools at low tide and sunset at Jacaré, as in January.

Events and crowds
Activity depends on Carnival, whose date moves every year. Before it, the Folia de Rua fills the city; during it, João Pessoa is more about the beach than street parties — many people go up to Recife and Olinda and come back here to sleep. Bloco dates and routes are published by the city council close to the event.
Is February a good time to go?
Very much so, especially outside Carnival week, when the weather is still summer and rates start to ease. For Carnival, book early and check the minimum stay.
